A Report on 5,000 cases of the Open Heart Surgery

Abstract
|
|
|
We analyzed the results of 5.000 cases of the open heart Surgeries which were performed at Sejong General Hospital between Jan. 1983 and Sep. 1992.
There were 2,484 males and 2,516 females. Age was distributed as follows : 673( 1 year),
2,573(1-15 years), 1,654(16-60), 100≥61 years). Among the 1,192 cases of acquired hart diseases. Valvular heart diseases were 1.010 cases. Of congenital heart diseases the acyanotic groups were 2,756 cases, and the cyanotic groups 1.052 cases.
The
overall operative mortality rats was 5.76%(288/5,000).
The mortality rate was 4.14% for valvular heart disease, 3.47% for coronary heart diseases, 3.27% for acyanotic congenital heart diseases and 13.59% for cyanotic congenital heart diseases.
